So You Want To Work At Home

You Want To Work At Home

Individuals have always wanted to have a better life. Many times they envision having their own business and employees to do all the work. Don’t laugh everything has to have a starting place.

The only thing that has changed a lot is that now it seems that everyone wants to escape the 9-5 job and start their own business working at home. With the growth of the internet and many people starting to purchase everything online, there has been tremendous growth among those who want to work at home.

It is easy to get the idea that all you need is a website to be successful and make loads of money. Once you get your website set up, the idea is that you will see automated profits around the clock.

This idea is not true! It takes a lot of work and a good bit of knowledge to be successful working from home. You have to learn a whole new approach to building a business.

I built a successful brick and mortar business and even sold online. When I sold that business and started building my online business I had a lot to learn. It was like starting grade school again. Everything worked differently. Everything was a new learning experience.

False Hopes and Expectations

The idea that if you build a website, they will come is false. While a website is a necessary tool, it isn’t a business until it starts making more money than it costs. Unfortunately, many would-be entrepreneurs are not prepared to put in the effort that is required to research a niche correctly to determine that the niche they want to work in is a paying one.

Finding a paying niche that you can penetrate, and then creating content, products, and services for that niche, is the best way for you to build a solid foundation for a successful work at home business. It is also the best way to achieve the level of success and kind of profits that most business owners need to make their efforts worthwhile.

Not picking a lucrative niche is an easy mistake to make. While it is not fatal, it can cause you to waste a lot of time and money. It is good to be excited about all your great ideas, but you need to make sure you can profit from them. The way to do that is to pick the right niche the first time.

Just because you have heard that others are making a lot of money is some red hot niche does not mean that it is right for you. It is easy to fall into the trap and not do the proper research. If you follow the herd, you will almost always fail.

You Can Avoid Some Mistakes

My purpose is to help you avoid making the same mistakes I did. It is easy to get excited when you make that decision to start your own online business.  To work at home, you have to be able to commit enough of your time to get the job done.

Passion and enthusiasm are essential when it comes to running your own business, but so is research. McDonald’s never builds without researching the location., Large corporations always research before they release a new product. There must be a demand for the product and manageable competition.

Unfortunately, most new business owners get it wrong. They choose a product; spend time and money trying to promote that product only to find that the market is already saturated. Maybe the product is good, and there are a lot of potential customers, but the competition is too great. Research, research, research will pay way more than it costs.

On the other hand, if there is no competition, there is probably no market for the product. Competition is not bad, and many times you can find a niche within a very competitive market that you can penetrate.

My next article will deal with how you can select a solid niche to build your work at home business.

Three Keys To Success
The secret key to online success is to:
  • Find a market were sells are hot
  • Create a product for it or find an affiliate product you like
  • Launch the product by directly marketing to the paying market you’ve already located.

The best niche marketing strategies and tactics are based on concrete research and building a relationship with prospective customers in your niche.

While there are a lot of popular niches out there, not all of them are well-paying, or even paying ones. While you can make money with ‘bargain basement’ customers, it is much more profitable to create products for people who are willing to pay a reasonable price for real solutions to the issues they are facing.

For your business to be sustainable, you need happy, loyal customers that will come back regularly to buy from you. Some of my present customers have been buying from me for 20 years. If you develop good relationships with your customers, they will be so loyal that every time you launch a new product, they’ll be willing to buy it.

Without doing the proper research, you may end up putting in hours of time and effort only to discover that you don’t have a real viable business after all. Your attempt to get your blog or website set up and to try and create a product to sell will be a waste of time unless you know your niche is part of a paying market.

When you are sure you have chosen the right niche in a paying market, you will have to continue to work until you start to earn the profits you need to meet your financial goals.

Once again, if you are not willing to invest the time and yes some money into building an online business, don’t start! You will be a part of the 97% who fail to make a living.
