How To Be Successful At Internet Marketing – The Ultimate Answer

How to be successful at internet marketing

Constant Change

How to be successful at internet marketing with the constant change evolving around us is a valid question. The methods of yesterday no longer work, and we have had to adjust. Technology transformed our world and left businesses with no choice but to change or die. Most companies lag in technology, and to date, are still playing catchup.

Business owners fast realize that they must have a strong internet presence to market their products online. With the COVID-19 violent outbreak, many businesses made rapid changes: some good and some bad. Many companies who had been in business for decades had to close their doors.

The fast-changing world and so many losing their job forced many to ask, How to be successful at internet marketing? Established businesses started selling as much as they could on the internet. They had to answer some of the same questions as the thousands were trying to find a new way to make a living.

people buying onlinePeople Buying Online

People were buying more and more online.  Today, due to the pandemic, people prefer buying online. They don’t want to risk the car congestion in town. And people are more conscience of catching something from other people.

Convenience is one of the main strategies sellers are using to meet the buyers online. It’s the new normal of bringing the products nearer to customers. The near lockdown of commerce globally gave internet marketing a real kick-start.

What this has done for you and many others is open the door to building a new business online. It is still hard to build a business, but the tools are cheap, and almost anyone can do it. You just need to learn a few new skills.

As an online marketer, it’s never easy because every business has its challenges. If this is your first adventure into owning a business, you will have a lot to learn. The main thing as an online marketer is keeping an open mind and be willing to learn. You will need to learn how to market whatever you plan to sell.

From time to time, people ask me how to be successful at internet marketing. My first answer is never to give up. Right now, only about 2-3 percent of those who start are successful. The number one reason is they quit. There are thousands of offers online that promise that you will earn hundreds or even thousands without any work and in a short time.

That is a bald-faced lie! When you see those foolish promises, grab your money and run. You have found one of the thousands of scams online. It takes hard work to build a business. You will spend many hours before you start making a living.

Most business people worry about how they can be successful at what they do. Online or offline, it takes effort and usually some money to build a business.  I have built businesses offline and online, and they all took a lot of work. I have spent many 12-14 hour days to make my success.

Online marketingHave a plan

If you want to know how to be successful in internet marketing, the first step to take is putting together a goal-oriented plan. **Remember, failing to plan is planning to fail.** Your audience will only find you credible if you operate with a laid-out plan.

If you are just starting online and know nothing about internet marketing, I would suggest that you first go to Wealthy Affiliate and take their 10 free lessons. You will not learn everything you need to know, but you will understand enough to build a plan. (I am a member, and if you purchase their more advanced training, I will receive a commission.) You do not have to buy anything or give them a credit card to get free lessons.

Your plan has to be logical and straightforward. It should focus on achieving successful internet marketing goals. Take the time to write out the steps you will take to achieve your goal. The plan may require expertise that you lack individually.

Two Options

You have two options here, you learn how to do it, or you pay someone to do it.

If you are starting and have no money to hire it done, you will have to learn how to do it. Today there are several ways you can learn. YouTube has videos on almost everything. Just be careful and don’t get sucked into a high priced solution.

Another solution is to have a partner with the skills you need. I like to do everything myself, but I do hire work done all the time. I write well, but I often hire articles written for me so I can work on other things. My time is more valuable in promoting my website.

Today you do not have the expense of providing an office for your coworker. Almost everyone is now working together from different locations online. You have to create room to accommodate a partner who has the skill set that you lack. Use your strengths and hire your weaknesses.

Another notable point is that not all plans are foolproof. You may realize that a particular methodology is not practical. Make your plan flexible from the start, and you will have to make changes. Your plan will need to be updated as you learn.

Remember that a simple plan is better than an impressive plan that only looks good on paper. This plan is what will keep you focused on what you need to do to accomplish your goals.

Ensure that your brand is outstanding

The brand is usually the face of a business. To make your brand outstanding, you have to ensure that your logo is enticing and can bring you more clients’ traffic. Your brand alone cannot build a successful internet business, but it will give you a good start.

You want to look impressive to your potential clients. They must be able to differentiate you from your competitor through a unique brand name, description of your products, mission, vision, and others.

The ability to visualize and express how your products work or the story behind the brand name will be what draws a person into your business. What they see first is what draws prospects in and helps convert them into customers.

Create a high-converting website

Creating a high-converting website is the most straightforward answer to how to be successful at internet marketing. This strategy, when done right, enables you to dominate the market.

There is one danger that traps most new intrapreneurs. They try to market too large a prospective field. You can not reach everybody. You need to be selective and narrow down to a small niche of the market.

An example of a niche is the owners of a Ford Escape as a segment of all Ford products. The narrow your niche, the easier it is to market to them.

Your website gives you a place to send your prospects to so you can convert them into a customer. You need it to stand out from your competitors. It should have useful information that will help the visitor become a customer.

You must have traffic to be successful at internet marketing.Drive Traffic

Once you have a website in a well-defined niche, your next step is to drive traffic to it. Traffic is the most critical part of building your business.  Even a lousy website will make money if you drive enough traffic to it. However, please understand that all traffic is not equal. Do not buy traffic off Fiveer where you get 100,000 hits for $10. This type of traffic will hurt you, not help.

You only want to drive potential customers to your site. There several ways to do this, basically free and paid. I have listed two fundamental methods that are free, and I believe the best. I will have to leave other methods for another article.  On my website, BizOpt, you will find traffic as a   menu item.

This traffic is only valuable if you have your website set up to convert visitors into customers. You can have a great website and get a lot of people to it and not make any money. Your website should be sit up to convert visitors into customers from the very beginning if you want to be successful at internet marketing.

With a website that converts, you can afford to start paying for targeted traffic from places like Google Ads and Facebook Ads.  They are able to target prospects from their databases that are interested in what you are selling.

Targeted traffic is a sure way to get leverage over competitors and stay ahead. You will be able to make more money than depending on free traffic alone. Investing this money to increasing your traffic becomes affordable and realistic.

Below are three ways that you can get free targeted traffic. SEO traffic, getting your posts to go viral and giving away free thinks.

Set up an SEO strategy

The use of links, tags, and headlines helps your strategies for online marketing. Also, staying active by frequently updating your blog with good helpful content helps out in establishing your website with Google. Google will send free traffic to any site that offers good consistent content.  So devote time to SEO (search engine optimization) because it’s a process that is vital.

You might require the help of professionals to help you increase your ranking, but the information is available for free. Most of your competitors will not work on it, so if you put forth a little effort it will be advantageous. Through an adequately set strategic search engine optimization, you will notice a significant improvement in your traffic flow.

The main thing that search engines want to see is good content with well-defined keywords. Posts that are easily understood and where the reader stays on the site for more than 30 seconds help Google rate them.

Go Viral

When you write a post, it is excellent if you can tie it to what is trending at the moment. Things move very fast In the current times of a digital era, and people are interested in what’s trending. As a marketer, focusing on the latest trends is one way to get free traffic. However, it must be relative to your products.

Your post’s main objective is to convert prospects into customers while informing them of something useful. Everyone wants information about what is trending.  The trending news in your post is what can make it go viral.

We all want to chip in when we meet with friends and discuss the latest celeb gossip.  Feed the masses with the trends they are craving. To use trends, you have to be on your toes at all times. Be the first to know and share the latest news on what you are marketing.

Be bold; do not be afraid of controversy as long as it’s positive. You must be able to create creative content on trends that will spread quickly. Website traffic will increase, and you will get more sales. It will give the website the attention that you need as a marketer. You might even be lucky to get endorsements, which will make your brand more prominent.

Have free offers

We all love free things in life. Whether you are selling a product or service, consider having free offers. It will entice more people to your website to buy your product.

Your gift does not have to be an expensive item, but it does have to be something of value. Since I write a lot, I give away free ebooks about marketing and sometimes video courses.

The only rule I use is that it must relate to the product that I am promoting. You want it to link to your business so you will attract a targeted visitor. When I give away an ebook or a how-to article, it cost me nothing, but it may help my prospect.

Get creative with your free offers. You can conduct surveys, run contests, or have giveaways when one makes a purchase or visits your site. You can also use it to build a mailing list so you can send out emails about sales. Your mailing lists is a little like having money in the bank. When you need extra sales you send an email.

Step 2: Domain Name – Hosting – Website

Step 2

Domain Name

Your Domain Name is Your Signage.Step 2 is all about selecting a domain name, hosting and website construction. Each step should be done in order for the best results.

Your Domain Name is your business identity, just like a sign out front of a business.

By now, you should have chosen your first niche, and so the next steps are to choose a domain, hosting and build your website. If you do not yet have a domain name related to your niche please refer to  Step 1.

Take your time with these steps. You are trying to build a real business here, establishing yourself as an authority in your niche. A well-crafted website with high quality, original content is critical.

Yes, it does require a small investment, but you can purchase a domain name for less than $20. Having your domain name is a place to start. Selecting a good domain name will help you to focus your website on your chosen niche.

Technically you could start with a blog on Blogger or Tumblr, it is free. I do not recommend this because you have less control. Once you start making some money, you’ll want to switch everything over to your domain, which could be a real hassle down the line. You’ll lose traffic, and will have to start building links from scratch, etc. It’s not ideal, so try to find the money for a domain and hosting, if possible.

If you have little or no money to start, I recommend my students start with a free Wealthy Affiliate account. Even if you have money there are advantages to starting with Wealthy Affiliate.

Wealthy Affiliate will guide you step by step through setting up a free domain. You can later transfer the site to your domain with a click of a button. You can build your site and receive personal help where needed. When you have the money, you can upgrade to their premium account that will host 25 domains for you plus give you 25 additional  siterubix” domains.

If you find Wealthy Affiliate as beneficial as I do and you upgrade I will receive a commission at no extra cost to you. I recommend it because it has helped me.

Choosing a Domain Name

The way most people start is to purchase a domain name and a hosting plan. If you have plenty of money that may not hurt you, but after years of experience, I have changed my mind.  Your domain name does not have the importance it once did on SEO rankings, and it is not near as important as getting your website up.

Your domain name will act as your website’s street address. If it is a name that relates to you business it will help build your brand. Once your your website is up and functional, it is the link that allows others to find you among the millions of other sites.

Perfect Domain Names

Most of the “perfect” domain names in your niche will already be long gone by now, as will most of the significant keyword domains. So, you’ll need to get creative, but not over-the-top. Remember, it is not as important as in the past so selecting one that is a little broader is OK.

Let’s say you’ve chosen the basket weaving niche. You want a domain name that lets people know what your site is about without getting so cute or crazy that people don’t remember the website or avoid it altogether because it seems unprofessional.

Some examples might be:

  • BasketWeavingCentral.com
  • BasketWeaverSpot.com
  • WeavingGreatBaskets.com

I haven’t looked to see if any of these are available or not, I just came up with them off the top of my head. They’re purely meant to be examples of professional domains one might choose if they are available. You can even use your name or initials if you can not find one that is better.

Examples of bad domains:

  • DreamyWeavy.com (a silly play on “dream weaver”)
  • BasketVeevil.com (weevil sounds like “weaver”)

These domains, while they might be cute, would not seem professional to the average visitor. They wouldn’t be memorable, because people would be thinking of the original words (like dream weaver) and might have a hard time remembering the play on that word that you used.

If you decide not to take advantage of a free domain and hosting at Wealthy Affiliate, I can recommend NameCheap to register your domains because they are affordably priced and have coupons every month. I have learned that it is best to keep your domain and host at the same place if you can. The more websites you have the more important this becomes.

Set Up Hosting

Hosting is like your store location. While a domain name is like your website’s street address, hosting is your website’s physical location. Hosting is like renting a piece of land to build your business on. Your location is important. There are good hosts and bad hosts, slow hosts and fast hosts.

Hosting should be picked carefully.

When it comes to hosting, I highly recommend buying a yearly hosting package if you can afford it. Building a viable website will take you several months before you show any profit. Paying by the year will save you money and protect you from not having the monthly fee to keep going.

And if you don’t pay your hosting bill and your site goes down, any work you’ve already put in will be gone. Poof!

If you are going to go the more conventional route. Don’t let that happen to you. Pay for a year upfront if you can manage it. If you’re serious about this business, you’ll find a way. Remember, this is a business, and companies require investment.

If you can’t swing a full year upfront, try to find the least expensive hosting package you can that has decent reviews. You don’t want to lose traffic because your host is unbearably slow, so it’s essential to pay attention to reviews. And be careful that the reviews are from legitimate users and not affiliates who are merely looking to make a commission.

But then, why put money out when you do not have to?

If you are new to internet marketing or do not yet have a good website up you will need some help. This is another reason I recommend building for free at Wealthy Affiliate.  If it takes six months for you to get your site the way you want it the price is still FREE.

Once you start making money you can upgrade to premium. They will transfer all your work to your personal domain for free and within minutes of you requesting it.

It’s perfectly fine to buy your hosting through an affiliate link. Just be sure you read some legitimate reviews first. Most hosting companies have affiliate programs. I am an affiliate of Wealthy Affiliates. Once you see how they help people you may want to be an affiliate too.

Make sure you choose a hosting company that will install your WordPress site for you or has an admin panel like cPanel and has one of the software installation packages like Softaculous. Softaculous will make it a breeze to install stuff like WordPress, even if you don’t have a lot of technical knowledge.

Some popular hosting companies include:

Wealthy Affiliate

(they do  a WordPress installation for you with their hosting)

 HostGator

(they also have great support)

NameCheap

(I have found them to be helpful)

Your Website

Your Website builds Your Brand! The design of your website is basically like the building that sits on your land (hosting). WordPress is now the most popular website program because you can get started without learning a bunch of coding. WordPress will save you months in the building process, believe me, I have hardcoded a site and it is not easy.

You have two choices.

You can go with a company that installs WordPress for you or a company with cpanel and do it yourself. If you decide to do the install yourself make sure the hosting company includes Softaculous.  If you want to do everything yourself, Softaculous will make it will make it easier to install WordPress.

All you have to do to install WordPress is to go to the installer program and click on the button that says WordPress. The program will then ask you a few questions and install the site for you.

Installing WordPress yourself.

You can get started by following the steps outlined below.

  1. Under scripts, click on WordPress and it will bring up the WordPress installer page.
  2. Click on “Install Now.” Enter the information requested. I usually choose http://www.
  3. As the Protocol. Choose your domain from the dropdown box.
  4. Leave the directory blank unless you have a different page on the root of your domain.
  5. Enter your site’s name and a short description. Leave
  6. WPMU blank.
  7. Enter a username and password. DO NOT use admin as your username, because it will make your blog easier to hack, and choose a strong password!
  8. Enter the email address where you want notifications to go.
  9. You should check the Limit Login Attempts.
  10. Then scroll down and hit Install.

Once it’s finished, use your username and password to log in and get started!

If for some reason you close this page, you can access your admin login page at:

Just replace YourDomain.com with your domain name.

When you get logged in, there are a few things you will want to do to get your site set up correctly. Go to Settings in the menu on the left, and click Permalinks.

You can set your structure here, but I usually use either Post Name or a custom structure in which I add into the box.

Setting your Permalinks structure isn’t critical, but it does make your site more SEO friendly because it gives the search engines other keywords instead of just random numbers and such, which is how WordPress handles things by default.

Once you’ve done this, it’s time to add plugins and themes.

Install Themes & Plugins

There are plenty of free themes out there, so it’s not necessary to pay for them. However, there are themes out there that are built specifically for marketers, so you might want to look at a few of them.

One theme that is very good for marketing purposes is the Extra theme from Elegant Themes.

This theme is structured well, has many features that make it work very well for marketing, and works well with Elegant Themes’ marketing plugins, too.

Sometimes Elegant Themes has specials where you can get a lifetime license at a very affordable price, so it’s worth looking out for those offers! Even at the current yearly access price of $89, or the current lifetime access price of $249, it’s a great deal for all that you get!

Plus, the Divi theme is excellent for making product sales pages and squeeze pages because it lets you create your pages using modules. It’s straightforward to use, even for a beginner. Their documentation leads you through the whole process. So, if you think you might want to launch your products later, this membership is even more worth it.

Don’t forget to download and install some of their plugins, as well.

For example, Bloom is great for creating unusual opt-in forms. Monarch is a great social media sharing plugin that adds social sharing buttons to all your posts automatically. And the Divi Builder plugin will add the powerful drag-and-drop page building functionality of the Divi theme to ANY theme from ANY creator.

Don’t go crazy with plugins!

Add only those you need. Otherwise, you’ll end up slowing down your site, which will hurt your SEO.

I suggest adding:

  • A social media plugin, such as Monarch (from ElegantThemes)
  • An opt-in plugin, such as Bloom (from ElegantThemes)
  • An SEO package like All-in-One SEO or Yoast
  • W3 Total Cache for speed
  • org Rich Snippets (for SEO, Pinterest, Facebook, etc.)
  • A security program like WordFence
  • A backup solution like BackupBuddy
  • An analytics program like Google Analyticator or Clicky by Yoast
  • An editorial calendar, especially if you have multiple authors
  • A comment system, like Akismet or Disqus, to help combat spam

You may find some others that work well for your specific needs, but these are some of the most important that you’ll almost certainly want to include. Most are free, but a few are paid. There are nearly always free options available, but sometimes the paid options offer more features or work better.

Another great package you might want to consider using is SumoMe. Sumo has many plugins that you can install from a single interface.

Just install the SumoMe plugin, sign up for an account, and you can install the various plugins from the interface.

They have plugins for social sharing, opt-ins, and lots more.

Step 1: Where to Start – Find Your Niche

Niche is a segment.What is a niche?

To find your niche you need to understand what a niche is. A niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focused. The market niche defines the product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality, and the demographic that it is intended to target. It is also a small market segment. – Wikipedia

Understanding what a niche is will help in finding your niche. Niche may be a new word for you, but it is just a word to describe a small segment within a broader context. It is like the image of a stack of firewood with a small part for flowers.

So, where to start to find your niche? Finding your niche is one of the essential steps in building a successful online business. One of the best ways to start is by making a list of ideas of areas you would like to work in and why you like those niches. You need to list things like the following:

  •    What are your interests?
  •    What are your hobbies – fishing, gardening, chess or a sport?
  •    Is there something that you are passionate about – fitness, causes, or education?
  •    Is there a problem you would like to address – obesity, depression, or home repairs?
  •    Do you follow specific trends – healthy living, organic eating, homeschooling?

Why should you define a niche?

By selecting a niche, you reduce the size of the market you are targeting. The internet is a vast arena with many massive conglomerates competing for your customer. When selecting a niche you are trying to find an area where you can compete.

You could pick a niche because it’s a hot and trending market. That is okay, but you have to be prepared to move on as the trend burns itself out.

Trends can be quick moving, while others aren’t that interesting or exciting, or sustainable. Significant events like the Olympics or the presidential election can generate a ton of buzz and demand for memorabilia, but people lose interest quickly.

These kinds of niche markets will only allow you to be in business for a short period before you have to find another niche that will be profitable. So when you go through your list, it is better if you find one that will be around awhile.

Some Niches Are Evergreen

Some Niches are Evergreen.Niches that don’t expire soon, or at all, are referred to as ‘evergreen.’ An evergreen niche may not be as exciting as the latest gadget, but they are more stable and can keep your business running for years.

Being evergreen means that the products and services that you are selling should be able to keep you earning a profit year after year. You also should try to find a niche that is interesting enough to make it fun and enjoyable for you to go to work every day.

For many, choosing a niche is easy because they base their business on their interests and expertise. Be an expert in what people are looking for in that niche.

Using the product will give you a pretty good idea as to whether or not the niche will be profitable. In other words, if you buy a product, chances are there are other people out there that will buy them as well.

However, you need to keep in mind that people won’t always behave in the manner that you expect. While you may think that your idea is a terrific one, without doing the proper niche research, it could bomb, leaving you with the realization that it is a weak market and may not be able to sustain you.

Select Your Niche Carefully

Try to avoid spending your time creating a product, website, and more, for a niche that is worth little or nothing because it is not a paying market, or because you’re targeting the wrong audience.

You need to listen to what people are saying, and figure out what problems and challenges they have, then offer a solution to those challenges. By conducting research and getting to know your prospective customers better, you can find out what actions they are willing to take to achieve their goals.

Doing in-depth analysis before you commit to a niche will save you months of hard work for zero profit.

You Can Start As An Affiliate

Marketing as an affiliate is the easiest way to make money when you first start your business. Becoming an affiliate of top companies like Amazon gives you access to millions of products that you already know are in demand.

Depending on the reward system you choose and the products you are selling in specific niches, you can start earning commissions as high as 15 percent.

Many of the top companies, like Amazon and eBay, have affiliate programs administered in-house. Other companies run their affiliate programs through a marketplace that operates the program for them.

Most Lucrative

Solving the Money Issue. While the most lucrative way to make a profit in your niche is to create your products and services to sell, there are several reasons why you may want to consider starting with affiliate marketing.

First and foremost, affiliate marketing is a way to become profitable soon after starting your business. Affiliate marketing also takes less time and energy to get started. The products that you can sell through an affiliate program are a good indicator that the niche is a paying one.

Affiliate marketplaces can also be a valuable place to conduct your research. They allow you to see precisely what people are buying and how much they are willing to pay for the products.

One such marketplace is Clickbank. They have one of the most extensive lists of affiliate programs, and they give ratings and popularity. Don’t get hung up on high commissions. Use them for research in your area of interest.

The research will give you a good idea of how your products and services will fit into the paying marketplace. Staring out with affiliate marketing can help you to avoid some of the common mistakes in niche marketing, like setting a price point that is too high or too low or creating products that no one wants.

Niche Research Is Crucial

By doing this research, you’ll also be able to see the gaps in your offerings. Therefore, when you are ready to develop your product or service, your final decision will be based on the research you’ve conducted because you will have discovered a real need on the part of your prospective clients.

Another reason you may want to consider affiliate marketing is that you can learn a great deal about marketing.

The affiliate marketing programs are usually run by a manager who is an expert in coming up with exciting offers, ideas, and graphics for their offers. Often, they will provide affiliate marketers with useful tips and hints that can help them sell their products.

To gain a better understanding of how to market your products, read the emails they send you and take action as suggested. Carefully look at the creative items that they use.

Professional Sales Letters

The construction of sales letters is significant. Studying them can help to provide you with a crash course in marketing, even if you’ve never sold anything before.

You can also get suggestions, useful tools, and free material to include in your emails. With the more popular products, they may also send you exclusive flash sales or seasonal offers.

Finally, the more streams of income you have in your business, the more likely you are to profit. Your commission checks may not be much to start with each month but increasing your income will be up to you and how many products you can promote.

So How Do You Research Your Niche

Research your niche. The first step is discovering your niche market is to identify the keywords that are used by your target market. What keywords are they typing in the search engines? Then use them to search the topics and products that are related to your market.

The searches that you uncover will help you know the pain points of the niche customers and what problems they need to solve. Understanding their needs will help you earn more profit by specifically targeted customers that are looking for products and services that are directly related to your niche.

You can use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to search out specific words and phrases that are related to your niche market.

The tool is free to use and provides you with the opportunity to find all the relevant keywords that are being used by your target customer. You can use the data you gather from this tool to research the specific products, services, and solutions in a niche market and figure out which ones apply to your particular area of expertise.

Once you’ve identified some of the keywords and phrases that are associated with your niche, you can begin to identify those keywords that have the most profit potential.

You can measure profit potential in three ways:

  • High Search Volume
  • Low Competition
  • Low Cost/Effort to Rank High

Most people try to make an educated guess on those three points, but in the following section, you’ll learn how to use real-world information to eliminate the guesswork.

Hot Keywords

Using Google Keyword Planner, you can estimate the amount of potential visitor traffic, which keywords people are using, and any associated keywords that give you clues as to customers’ other requirements.

Your research needs to be focused and in-depth. You need to test as many keywords as is practical until you think that you’ve covered every keyword or a key phrase that a potential customer would use to search for your product or service.

The first piece of data that you will need to look at is if there is a sufficient monthly volume of potential customers actively searching for the product or service you are looking to sell online.

You’ll also want to determine if other businesses are already making money from similar products or services. You can do this with Google AdWords Keyword Planner along with search engines like Google, Bing, and Ask.

Organize Your Keywords

Next, you’ll want to organize your keywords and key phrases into groups. You can do this by breaking all your keywords down into groups of specific keywords and phrases.

For example, the keyword phrase, “digital camera,” can be separated into “underwater digital camera,” “underwater digital cameras,” and “digital underwater camera.” These would be placed in one group while, “digital camera case,” can be separated into “underwater digital camera case,” and “digital camera cases,” and can be placed in another group.

You want to divide separate keywords into groups of no less than 2,000 searches per month. The purpose of doing this is to find a prevailing mindset of groups of people that are looking for similar products, services, information, benefits, or features.

Keep Drilling Down

You have to drill down to reach oil.To drill down further and discover more potential buyers, you can select the top ten keywords. From these ten keywords, the goal is to try and find a total of 100,000 or more searches in total per month. Every one of these can be added to the Google Keyword Planner Tool to uncover even more specific long-tail keywords.

Now you want to start looking for “Money Making Words” within your list. These buyer keywords signal that people will pay for information. These keywords include model numbers, brand names, color, buy, cheap, for sale, seller, supplier, etc. The more specific the search, the more likely the customers are to buy.

Next, you can put them in an Excel spreadsheet to find the total number of searches for the top ten keywords. If the number is less than 10,000, it isn’t a good market to enter.

Keywords that have a monthly search total of more than 10,000 searches show an okay market, those with 30,000 searches mean it’s a good market, and over 100,000 searches per month are the best possible scenario you can have.

You Must Test Your Keywords

The most reliable and inexpensive ways that you can check the potential profit of your keywords is to test them live online. You can upload some keyword specific content to a page on your current blog or website, Facebook fan page, YouTube channel, Pinterest, etc. You can test each piece of new material and see where it lands on Google and how much traffic it brings.

This strategy will allow you to find keywords that have started bringing you traffic organically, that are converting the traffic to revenue, and those that can rank higher. The more traffic the keyword has when ranking lower, the more profit potential it has.

Micro Niches

Remember, if you choose to enter into an established market, you don’t have to start out competing for top keywords. You can compete for less competitive, long-tail keywords instead. Choosing a micro-niche can become your backdoor entry into the broader niche market.

Once you’ve decided on the niche market that you want to enter, and you’ve chosen a few keywords, and key phrases, the next step in the process is finding your ideal customer. I will deal with that in a future post.
